Country Classics
Now here’s a channel that’s as classic as classic comes. Your all-time favorite Country acts from years gone by. Home of the legends and the storytellers. No need to tell you who these legends are, but for those who are unsure we mean of course: Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Ray Price, Anne Murray, Johnny Cash. You get it, classic country, western and bluegrass.
Born in Jacquet River, New Brunswick, Ted Daigle has enjoyed successful careers on the Canadian music scene as a recording artist/performer and Radio Personality, Music Director and Program Director.
Ted Daigle’s radio career began at CKBC in Bathurst, NB in 1956. It was here in the station studios that Ted’s very first recording session took place.
After stints at CJLX in Thunder Bay and CFGM in Toronto, Ted settled in at CKOY and CKBY in Ottawa, where he founded (1972) the first full-time country radio station in the nation’s capital. It would go on to become the most listened to country music station in Canada. His tenure at CKBY for 25 years included the introduction of many special projects benefiting Canadian country music artists and the music industry, as well as the community at large. He is recognized for outstanding leadership in the imagination, creation, production and execution of the award winning radio series and album releases of Christmas in the Valley. His relentless effort to promote country music in Canada has made Ted Daigle one of the nation’s most honored broadcasters:
Program Director of the Year
Music Director of the Year
Deejay of the Year
Radio Station of the Year
Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall of Fame
Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame
New Brunswick Country Music Hall of Fame
Member of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters’ Half Century Club
In his dual role as both a performer (numerous albums, charted singles) and a radio personality, Ted Daigle has interviewed and shared the stage with most of country music’s legendary artists, many of whom credit Ted for their own early career radio success.
