The French country scene is as rootsy and as rocking as ever. On Franco Country we’ll play you the very best in francophone new and traditional country, with the likes of Renée Martel, Gildor Roy, Patrick Norman, André Lejeune and Georges Hamel.

Veteran radio man Jean-François Dubois has over 30 years of experience under his belt. “I practically saw the birth and development of popular song,” he says. “Over the years, I’ve closely followed all the musical trends.” He launched his radio career in Montreal in the mid-sixties as a technician, producer and host. He worked with Guy Godin on the popular show 'Je reviens te chercher' on CFGL-FM. Next, he spent 16 years as producer and manager at Radio-Canada Radio in Saskatchewan where, among other things, he oversaw a hit country show. “The rhythm of country music comes very close to the beating of the human heart,” says Jean-François. “That’s why this music touches us so deeply.” His next challenge was to run the Radio-Canada radio station in Toronto. Then, he managed French Country Radio CJMS. Today, he programs FrancoCountry for Galaxie, directs his own consulting company, JFD Communications and represents Quebec with World Vision for their associated artists program.

Jean-François has always been convinced that there’s a huge market for country music. Indeed, he recommended that Galaxie launch the now popular FrancoCountry channel. His experience in country music and French song has made a winner of the channel he programs.
